Fiona qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 1999 and in England & Wales in 2003, and joined the Employment and Pensions Group in 2006.
Fiona's practice covers the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment issues. On the contentious side Fiona has experience in handling general claims such as unfair (constructive) dismissal and breach of contract, as well as more complex multi-party discrimination and TUPE related claims. Fiona is an experienced and successful Tribunal advocate.
On the non-contentious side, Fiona frequently supports the firm's corporate lawyers on the employment aspects of commercial transactions such as the TUPE or employment implications arising from mergers, acquisitions, in-sourcing and out-sourcing deals which in addition to providing advice involves drafting warranties, indemnities and other necessary documentation.
Fiona provides daily advice to both employees and employers (private and public sector) on a wide range of employment issues including strategic advice on personnel planning in business transfer and redundancy situations. In addition, she frequently drafts and negotiates contract documentation most commonly for senior level executives and drafts and advises on employment policies.
Fiona presents seminars and workshops on a regular basis as part of the Employment and Pensions Group annual training programme.
