Data Protection - publication of part 4 of the Information Commissioner's Code of Practice: Workers' health

The 4th and final part of the Information Commissioner’s code of practice on data protection has been published today. The code as a whole provides guidance to employers on how to comply with their obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 when collecting and processing workers’ data.

Part 4 deals with processing data relating to workers’ health including results of medical examinations, drug testing and inoculation records.

The 4 parts of the code of practice are:

1 Recruitment and selection;

2 Employment records;

3 Monitoring at work;

4 Workers’ health.

We will take an in-depth look at part 4 of the code in the next edition of our newsletter, People, which we will circulate in the New Year. In the meantime, the code may be accessed by clicking here
