Increases to financial limits on tribunal awards

Financial limits on tribunal awards are increased annually in February.

Redundancy compensation

For employers reducing their workforces, the new figures from 1 February 2000 are as follows:

The limit on a week's pay has been increased to £280 (previously £270);

The maximum award has been increased to £8,400 (previously £8,100). 

 

Unfair dismissal

For employers facing claims of unfair dismissal the new figures are:

The limit on a week's pay has been increased to £280 (previously £270);

The maximum basic award  - £8,400 (previously £8,100);

The maximum compensatory award - £56,800 (previously £55,000).

These awards apply to claims for dismissals taking place on or after 1 February 2005.
